I am happy when I am in Jesus, serving Him, doing His will and not my own! There is no more ME in the equation. ME gets me high and high gets me locked up in prison! Jesus has set me free and I am no longer my own. I’m His made by Him and for Him and that is just the way it is! I get my joy from pleasing Him. Pleasing myself gets me nothing but fading and fleeting pleasure! When I find myself in ME that is when I give myself a chin check…a spiritual uppercut to the jaw!!!!
I’m just no longer interested in ANYTHING this world has to offer! Been there done that and it doesn’t work. There is never enough and once you get it you thought it would make you feel better than it did and it always bites you in the end!
The truth is just what word of God says…we struggle spirit against flesh!
Galatians 5:17 ~ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
There is nothing redeemable in the flesh. The flesh is not our friend only our enemy. The flesh is death and destruction and if I stay tied to it I will be destroyed also and I will die apart from God.
Because of Jesus, I have been reborn of the Spirit and no longer bound to my flesh therefore I am vigilant to keep the flesh at bay. I do not want to be a lover of flesh. I do not want to bow down to its every demand. The flesh is an unrelenting cruel task master. The flesh can never be filled, it is never satisfied and will never ever get enough. The flesh always cries, more, more, more!
Proverbs 27:20 ~ Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.
1 John 2:16-17 ~ For everything in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
My flesh is where my addiction lies in hiding waiting for another chance to strike to destroy!
Romans 8:5-8 ~ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Praise Jesus! His Spirit conquers our flesh and gives us the power to walk in that spirit and not be led by the desires of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16 ~ I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:24-25 ~ And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
I’m just not interested in feeding my flesh the things of this world that have proven to me they can never satisfy. I will not fall in love with the things of this world and I will never-ever love anything again more than Jesus! Drugs, Money, Women, Self, Sex, Football, Fame…etc.
Because when you love something and you can’t live without it, you are chained to it! I prefer to be chained to Jesus!!!!! His chains are oh so very sweet and His chains set you free!
John 8:36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
