THE POETRY OF ADDICTION
ONE MAN’S JOURNEY INTO THE CAPTIVITY, DARKNESS AND HELL OF CRACK COCAINE ADDICTION AND DELIVERANCE BACK TO HIS GOD – JESUS CHRIST
Michael Bowen grew up in Dallas, Texas in the 1970’s and 80’s and appeared to have it all with good looks, a great education, family prosperity and who had established himself as a star college football player for Southern Methodist University and drafted into the Canadian Football League in 1991. With the world at his fingertips and unlimited potential and promise, he went in search of building a successful life only to find himself becoming addicted to alcohol, crack cocaine and methamphetamine which eventually led him to prison. After many years of failure and living in defeat of addiction and suffering all of its side effects of jail, emergency room visits, rehabilitation centers, mental hospitals, lost jobs, homelessness and lost relationships he landed for the second time in prison. This time in prison, however, he finally quit fighting addiction under his own strength and surrendered his life and the fight to Jesus Christ where he finally found the Victory that for so long, he searched and he became the Man of God he was created to be. Now an ordained evangelist, Michael has founded a ministry called Sons & Daughters of Thunder which ministers to men and women who are living in defeat of addiction, habitual incarceration or anything keeping them from living out their purpose in God and showing them that there is Victory over all things in Jesus Christ by surrendering their lives to Him. Michael currently speaks at churches giving his testimony and in prisons where he ministers to those who are incarcerated as he was and helps them come to the understanding that they too can be delivered into freedom by giving their lives to Jesus! He also preaches on a weekly live radio show in Liberia West Africa where he is a missionary and also leads crusades and deliverance revivals. Currently, his ministry is constructing a Children’s Safe Home in Caldwell Liberia for babies being born to drug addicted mothers and has plans for the construction and implementation of men’s and women’s rehabilitation-discipleship homes throughout the country. His message is one of hope and perseverance that speaks of the absolute resurrection power of Jesus Christ and how God can radically transform lives, restore them, heal the hurt and make all things new! It is the love of Jesus Christ that finally set Michael free, giving him, this new life of Victory, Hope, Power, Truth, Peace and Purpose and he will share his Triumph with you!

The Poetry of Addiction is the story of Michael’s life and his tragic descent into the unpredictable and dangerous world of crack cocaine and methamphetamine addiction. This book takes us on his journey into the captivity, darkness and hell of his addicted life. Michael shares with us the spiritual truths revealed to him about this weapon of addiction devised by the enemy for the destruction of our souls. His poetry that was given to him through fiery revelation in a Texas prison by the Holy Spirit, helps takes us into the depths of all his experiences!
