Protect your walk brothers. It grieves the Holy Spirit if you go back to your old ways and invite the old man back into your life. It’s a slap in the face to the one you begged to save you and when He does, you instead go right back to where you came because you rejected His way and wanted your old way once again! You would rather go the way of the world and the devil than go the way that Jesus died to provide for you!
Discipleship comes with a cost. The cost is that you will have to give up your old way of life and let your old man die so Jesus can make you new and give you a new life. He gives you a new name and purpose then He gives you His Power and the Authority to use it. Jesus asks us to pick up our cross daily and to follow Him becoming His disciples. For those that do He gives them eternal life, for those who don’t they choose for themselves death and destruction.
2 Peter 2:20-22
If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
