FOLLOW JESUS

YOUR EYES HAVE BEEN OPENED. WHY DON’T YOU FOLLOW?

Matthew 20:29-34 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

We were in darkness and our lives were turned upside down. We were hurt, broken, disappointed and felt alone in the depth of our despair. We were like lost blind men walking through life stumbling into things and getting hurt and trying to find rest for our weary souls. Then we finally cried out to Jesus and He heard our cries and He opened up our eyes and reveled Himself to us. We were blind and now we see. We were lost and know we have been found. Oh what a wonderful day that was in our lives when we came Face to Face with the Savior of our souls.

WHY KNOW HAVE WE TURNED ANOTHER WAY AND ARE NOT FOLLOWING HIM?

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We prayed for Jesus to save us because we had lost our way in this world. Jesus came when we called and He showed us our salvation in Him yet we still do not follow Him all the way. Is this you? Perhaps. Is this me? Maybe at times.

THE PROBLEM IS BLINDNESS?

2 Corinthians 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.And Jesus came and revealed Himself to us because He is the great light that has shown in our hearts which has opened the eyes of our understanding.

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

God has opened our eyes and we have seen His glory in Jesus Christ and in response to this awakening there is something we must do. We cannot turn away, “turn a blind’s eye” anymore. We must focus our gaze on the one who came and saved us, Jesus. We must follow Him the rest of the days of our lives walking on the path that each day He lays out before us.

Sometimes when the world and this life presses down on me and I feel like I am being attacked on every side and the darkness is trying to swallow me up again, in my mind’s eye, I look down on the ground and I focus on taking each one of my feet and placing it in the footprint of Jesus who is walking in front of me leading my way. I focus just on doing the next right thing in Him.

DON’T LET THIS WORLD, PEOPLE OR THE STRESSES OF THIS LIFE LEAD YOU BACK INTO THE DARKNESS. STAY THE COURSE AND ALWAYS FOLLOW JESUS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF YOUR FAITH.

Hebrews 12:2-3 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

I AM HERE TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRUST JESUS AND FOLLOW HIM EVERYDAY. THE REST OF THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE. THROUGH THE HILLS AND THROUGH THE VALLEYS WE SHALL ALL GO, BECAUSE WE GO WITH JESUS!
