Today one of my FB friends posted this and it reminded me of how I felt in the past when sharing the Gospel with others.
This was his post:
Bringing certain people to Christ is next to impossible. My real job on this earth is to preach the gospel to the lost. I get aggrivated when they don’t listen. My soul yearns for God. Why they are not perceptive I don’t know. I’m tired with work and all responsibilities. But I will keep on because God has not given up on me. There for I can’t give up on those.
Here is my response:
Friend –
I have been right where you are! Then the Lord reminds me that it is not I that bring them to Him, it is He that brings them to Him through me! Yield to the spirit and be His vessel, His tool, His weapon in His Mighty Hand. Sometimes we are not the ones that He uses to bring them to Him. Sometimes we are there to plant the seed. When a farmer plants the seed He throws the seed into the ground and moves on and allows for the seed to do what it does on its own which is to grow. Some seeds make it some do not.
Matthew 13:1-9
On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
When I would try too hard to lead someone to Christ in my own strength I would get to the point where you are now! It is by His spirit and not by my strength that the Kingdom of Heaven is advanced!
Zechariah 4:6
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.
Remember they are blind and lost and can’t see as you see so what they are perceiving is different from what you know. Be patient and let God do the work in them once you have sown the seed.
The Lord is pleased with you and your Love for Him and others!
Be like the farmer and sow seeds and move on in God’s purpose and will and He will give the increase in those He has sown seeds in through you and your obedience to Him.
Jesus explains the parable of the sower:
Matthew 13:18-23
“Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Remember not all seeds that are sown can germinate and one day produce fruit. Do not get upset when seeds don’t take root. It’s just part of the overall process of salvation. Jesus told us this through Matthew so we would not get weary, tired and frustrated in our well doing.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
